Erica Good Pless, J.D., LL.M.Tampa IRS Tax Attorney
Erica Good Pless founded The Pless Law Firm, P.A. in 2011 and practices primarily in the area of federal tax controversies. She represents individuals and businesses before the Internal Revenue Service, the Internal Revenue Service Office of Appeals and the United States Tax Court.
She attended Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, graduating with High Honors and a double major in Sociology and Business Management. After graduating from Eckerd, Erica worked at Gregory, Sharer & Stuart, a public accounting firm, where she prepared income tax returns and provided litigation support services to forensic accountants. She then went on to earn her law degree from Stetson University College of Law, cum laude.
After graduating from Stetson, Erica worked at a Low Income Taxpayer Clinic at Gulfcoast Legal Services where she helped low income taxpayers resolve issues with the IRS. She also worked for Stetson University College of Law as a Contract Attorney with the National Clearinghouse of Science, Technology, and the Law.
Erica earned her Masters of Law in Taxation (LL.M.) from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2012. A Masters of Law in Taxation is an additional year of post-law school classes that focus specifically on tax related courses and issues, including such topics as estate planning, international tax, and corporate tax. This degree has been extremely useful and relevant in her practice.
Erica enjoys writing and speaking about tax law and its complexities. She has co-authored several articles that have been featured in Steve Leimberg’s Estate Planning and Asset Protection Planning Newsletters, the Florida Bar Journal, ABA Health eSource, and Medical Economics. She has also been published in the St. Petersburg Bar’s Paraclete newsletter. Additionally she has been a guest speaker on several Bloomberg BNA webinars and was a contributing author for Bloomberg BNA’s online e-learning courses.
In addition to published articles, Erica has co-authored the following three books: The Planner’s Guide to the 2013 Income Tax Increases, The Florida Physician Advertising Book, and Estate Tax Planning in 2011 and 2012 Recent Developments and 2012 Supplement.
In 2014, she was elected as the Public Relations Director for the Pinellas County Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (PFAWL). This organization’s mission is to promote gender equality and leadership roles of its members in the legal community. Also, in 2014 the Florida Association for Women Lawyers presented Erica with its Leader in the Law Award. This award is presented to FAWL members who have earned the respect of others professionally, been involved in activities for the betterment of their local community, exemplified the qualities of a positive role model and advanced the cause of women in the community.
